After years of advocating for a City Rent Subsidy Program, CRSC celebrated a major victory January 7, 2020 at Mayor Martin J. Walsh's annual State of the City Address.

Acknowledging the ever-growing housing crisis, the mayor announced Boston’s first ever city-funded rental vouchers to work towards offering housing first solutions for unhoused community members and so more low-income families can be stable and secure. The program is a $5 million dollar pilot that we look forward to planning, implementing, and expanding.

This announcement is a direct result of the advocacy, organizing, and collective power of unhoused and underhoused community members across Boston.
